Local Business Websites Drive Offline Purchases

Sep 23rd, 2007 • Category: Consumer Insight

A new Nielsen/WebVisible study reveals that once doctors, car dealers, florists, plumbers and other service industry professionals are found online, they are significantly benefiting from “offline conversion”–the act of shopping online and purchasing offline.

More than 70% of Internet users report using search engines to find a local service; with 46% of them making a purchase within 90 days of the original contact. Nearly 90% are happy with the Internet search results for local service. 54% of those who found a local service on the Internet also referred a friend to that same business or service.
