“Raging Rivers WaterPark Wins Tourism Award”

January 2010

Congratulations to Kochan & Company client Raging Rivers WaterPark for winning the River Bend Growth Association’s Spirit of Tourism Award. The award was announced at the RBGA’s annual dinner and recognizes Raging River’s impact on the growth in the River Bend area. Raging Rivers WaterPark is also celebrating its 20th season this year, with opening day planned for Saturday, May 29th.

“Reasons Move Home Buyers”
August 2009

The Kochan & Company “Reasons” campaign for The Jones Company, a Centex company, increased traffic to the homebuilder’s website and communities 35% during the 8 weeks of this summer’s campaign. The creative, which included print ads, outdoor, :15 radio commercials and interactive ads, stressed the combination of financing opportunities, federal incentives and industry-leading home warranty programs as compelling reasons to buy a new home right now from the St. Louis area’s oldest homebuilder.

Based on the huge success of The Pasta House Co.’s “6 Under $6″ promotion earlier this year, our client is running their first fall promotion: “Six All -Time Favorites”. Diners can enjoy The Pasta House Co.’s most popular pastas, including Spaghetti Bolognese, Tortellini and their renowned Pasta con Broccoli, with a side salad starting at $9.99. The campaign, which is primarily supported by radio and in-store marketing materials, was created by Kochan & Company and will start on September 14 and run through mid-November. Kochan & Company also placed the radio buy and was able to leverage more than $2 in additional incremental promotional support for every $1 spent.

Congratulations to our friends at Prairie Band Casino & Resort, in Topeka, Kansas, on winning the Diamond Award for the Best Casino Floor Promotion / Large Casino Category at the 2009 Romero Awards in Las Vegas. Kochan & Company is proud to have served as Prairie Band’s marketing partner in the creation of the winning 2008 promotion, Soul Survivor. Prairie Band also won a Diamond Award for Best Website Marketing / Large Casino.

The Romero Awards, which recognize excellence in casino marketing, were presented at a special ceremony, sponsored by Kochan & Company, on the final day of the 2009 Casino Marketing Conference.

“Blooming Success”

The St. Louis Florists Network asked Kochan & Company to move more people to their website during their 2009 Mother’s Day promotion. To make their budget go further, it was determined that a :60 radio campaign was the most cost-effective way to reach their target market. The Kochan & Company media department also increased the St. Louis Florists Network’s awareness by leveraging each $1 bought into $2 of additional incremental promotional support. The commercials ran for the week prior to Mother’s Day and the results were impressive. Traffic on the website was up 200% and they beat their sales goals for this year’s promotion.

The Pasta House Co. in the Top 150

For the first time, The Pasta House Co. restaurants, a Kochan & Company client, has made the St. Louis Business Journal’s “Top 150″ list . This list showcases the 150 largest privately held St. Louis area companies. The Pasta House Co. made the list based on their 2008 revenue, which increased by 2.6% to $63.3 million. They are also celebrating their 35th Anniversary this year!

Kochan & Company Marketing Communications recently won two Silver Davey Awards in the Music/Jingle Radio Specialty Category. The awards recognize the agency’s outstanding creative music/jingle work for Prairie Band Casino & Resort in Topeka, Kansas and Argosy Casino – Alton (Illinois).

The Davey Award is an international award focused exclusively on honoring outstanding creative work from the best small firms, agencies and companies worldwide. The Davey Awards are judged and overseen by the International Academy of the Visual Arts (IAVA), a member-based organization consisting of top-tier professionals from a “Who’s Who” of acclaimed media, advertising and marketing firms. This year, the academy received more than 4,000 entries from around the world.

The awards honor the “Davids” of creativity. David defeated the giant Goliath with a big idea and a little rock – the sort of thing small firms do each year. The awards honor the achievements of the “Creative Davids” who derive their strength from big ideas, rather than big budgets.

Kochan & Company Diagnosed Excellent by the Missouri Hospital Association

Kochan & Company’s ad campaign “State-of-the-Art Care Without Leaving the State” for BJC Alton Memorial Hospital’s Cancer Care Center, recently won an award in the Missouri Hospital Association’s annual Show-Me Excellence advertising competition. The award was in the “Total Advertising Campaign” category, for the campaign that included print and outdoor creative.

For the second year in a row, the State Farm/ Missouri Valley Conference Men’s Basketball tournament experienced record-breaking attendance at all sessions of the tournament. Overall tournament attendance has increased 60% since Kochan & Company started provided marketing services for The Missouri Valley Conference in 2005. Celebrating its 100th anniversary this year, The Missouri Valley Conference is the Nation’s second oldest collegiate athletic conference and a member of the NCAA.

The Jones Company wins HBA Best Advertising Campaign Award

At the recent Home Builders Association of St. Louis and Eastern Missouri Sales & Marketing Council Awards, The Jones Company was honored for the Best Advertising Campaign. The annual awards recognize outstanding marketing efforts in the St. Louis homebuilding industry. The “Keeping Up With The Jones” campaign was conceived and created by Kochan & Company Advertising for their client. “Keeping Up With The Jones” highlighted The Jones Company being the sole recipient of the prestigious J.D. Powers award in the St. Louis market. The ongoing campaign appears in outdoor, print and broadcast advertising.

Three words.  During a job interview years ago, that’s all Bob Kochan was allowed when asked to sum up his managerial philosophy.

He delivered a succinct sentence that continues to define his style more than two decades later: People equal success.

“It’s the chemistry of the people. That’s what really makes us who we are,” said Kochan, founder and president of Kochan & Co., an advertising and marketing firm in Soulard. The company’s hip headquarters at Eighth Street and Geyer serves as a laboratory for that communal chemistry, spawning a culture of creativity that keeps both employees and clients coming back.
